It started about a year ago, over lattes at our favorite Orange County coffeehouse. It seemed as if – overnight – everyone was using new media to share commentary, information, news and updates of various sorts. It was exciting, even a little daunting. We wondered out loud: could Vertical Marketing Network repurpose these mediums to engage colleagues, clients and consumers alike? Is another forum needed? There may not have been an illuminated light bulb over any of our heads, but the answer was clear and enthusiastic: Yes! Thus, “Blogging Out Loud” was born.
Blogging Out Loud is a weekly blog focused on industry hot topics, observations and opinions. The concept is simple: marketing is a challenging business; in many ways marketers need to have their fingers on the pulse of the future.
Working along with Betsy Berman aka the queen bee of integrated marketing, JJ Nelson, will serve as the blog’s lead voice. Other bloggers will occasionally float in, but the real voice of Blogging Out Loud is you! We want to hear from you. Got an idea you want to share? Here we will look to swap stories on our experiences in the marketplace, while doling out observations (astute or not) on where we think the world is going, and thus where this tricky business of observing might be headed, as well. We’re not here to give answers, but rather to talk through the ideas running through our brains and pick yours. Whether you are a marketing professional, manufacturer, retailer or consumer (and we’re all consumers), we hope these ideas stimulate your thinking, maybe even ignite a fire inside. Mostly, we hope Blogging Out Loud gets you thinking and talking out loud, because ideas are nothing unless they are shared.
